National signing day: See where York-Adams student-athletes are playing sports in college

Senior high school football players across the country were able to make their college decisions binding for the first time Wednesday, Dec. 20 by signing a national letter of intent.

Three YAIAA football players made signed first thing Wednesday morning: Central York running back Juelz Goff with the University of Pittsburgh and Spring Grove lineman Michael Hershey and York High lineman Michael McMonigle with the University of Maryland.

Goff was named YAIAA Offensive Player of the Year by GameTimePA after rushing for 1,623 yards and 31 touchdowns this season.

Hershey was a dominant two-way tackle for Spring Grove and will likely play offensive guard in college. He's currently one of the top heavyweight wrestlers in the state. It's possible he could line up next to McMonigle in college. The 6-foot-6 York High senior missed the end of his senior season with a knee injury and will likely redshirt but will eventually play offensive tackle in college.

Aspiring Division I basketball players players can sign during an early period from Nov. 8 to Nov. 15 and aspiring Division I football players can sign during an early period from Dec. 20 to Dec. 22.

The regular period for Division I basketball is April 17 to May 15, 2024 and the regular period for Division I football is Feb. 7 to April 1. Division II basketball and football players can sign until Aug. 1 like other sports.

The York Daily Record will list all the YAIAA athletes committing to play NCAA Division I, II and III athletics. This list will be updated throughout the school year as more commitments are announced.
