National reactions: After Week 16’s NFL slate, Bills QB Josh Allen is in MVP conversation
The Buffalo Bills won another game this past weekend, itching themselves closer and closer to a playoff spot.
That 24-22 win against the Los Angeles Chargers (5-10) certainly helped Josh Allen in regard to the 2023 MVP conversation. He became the first-ever quarterback to score over 40 touchdowns in four-straight seasons in NFL history.
The Bills (9-6) have a historic QB who has created waves lately because of that… but the way the rest of the NFL’s Week 16 went helped his cause, too. The likes of other top candidates for MVP, such as San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, did not have their best games.
Now Allen’s name is firmly in the center of the MVP discussion with two weeks remaining in the 2023 season.
Have a look at what some national media outlets have said about Allen’s chances at MVP since Week 16’s conclusion:

I think Josh Allen has been excellent all season, had some bad results that weren't really on him. It's just funny to me that he's now back to getting hyped up after two games in which he has a combined 22 completions.
That's the nature of the MVP discussion

To Bills/Josh Allen fans who are pumping him for MVP, lets be clear: He's a great player. He could be an MVP some year (maybe even this one), could make the Bills a SB winner, and maybe even HOF. But if you think 15 INTs and 4 losses directly because of them is OK, oy vey

Josh Allen now has accounted for 40 total touchdowns in 4 straight seasons..an NFL record. He’s got 11 games this season with at least 1 rushing and 1 passing TD..an NFL record. His case for MVP is as strong or stronger than anyone’s. pic.twitter.com/v4YUZVlnP8
