Juuse Saros sharp, Colton Sissons scores 2 goals in Nashville Predators' win vs. Canadiens

The Nashville Predators concluded the second of four back-to-backs this month with a 2-1 victory Sunday night against the Montreal Canadiens in a game riddled by penalties and capped by a save by Juuse Saros as time expired.

The first of two Colton Sissons goals came via tip-in on a power play with 8:19 remaining in the first period that put the Predators ahead 1-0. It was their fifth power-play goal in six games and Sissons’ eighth goal of the season.

He scored his ninth of the season and second of the game with 12:57 left in the second to put the Predators ahead 2-0.

Roman Josi earned his second assist of the game on Sissons’ second goal.

One thing lost was Saros’ consecutive saves streak, which ended at 49 when Jake Evans’ second goal of the season with 35 seconds left in the second period pulled the Canadiens within 2-1.

He finished with 36 saves.

Predators forward Cole Smith was denied by Jake Allen on two shorthanded opportunities midway through the third period.

The Predators were called for six penalties and the Canadiens were called for four.

The Predators (15-13-0) were coming off a 4-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the first time they've been shut out this season.

Nashville has won 10 of its past 14 games.

Predators forward Cole Smith was stopped twice on short-handed attempts nearly midway through the third period. They were the Predators' first shots on goal of the period.

Jake Evans cuts Canadiens’ deficit in half

Jake Evans’ second goal of the season with 35 seconds left in the second pulled the Canadiens within 2-1 and ended Juuse Saros’ save streak at 49.

Colton Sissons’ second goal of game gives Predators 2-goal lead

Colton Sissons’ ninth goal of the season and second of the game with 12:57 left in the second period.
