MSSU golfers win Konzem Women's Invitational, Capra Men's Invitational

Mar. 20—Missouri Southern's women's golf team won the Konzem Women's Invitational at the Sycamore Ridge Golf Club in Spring Hill, Kansas, on Tuesday.

The men also returned with a victory that day at the Capra Men's Invitational, also in Spring Hill.

Women's golf

The Lions shot 48 over par, which won the event by 34 strokes. All six Lions who competed at the invitational finished in the top six individually.

Aida Nunez won the event by shooting a 153 over two rounds, securing her first tournament individual win this season.

Emmerson Doyle finished second individually after shooting a 155.

Katarina Chynoranska and Lily Allman tied for third, both shooting a 159.

Iratxe Fernandez-Cano Aldasoro and Kyra Simon both shot 160, which placed them tied for fifth overall.

The women travel March 25-26 to Fort Smith, Arkansas, to compete in the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Women's Invitational at Hardscrabble Country Club.

Men's golf

Southern's men's golf team won the Capra Men's Invitational, shooting 18 over par. That initially tied the Lions with Rockhurst University, and Southern came out victorious after a one-hole playoff.

Tradgon McCrae finished second overall with a 146 over two rounds, one stroke behind the leader.

Josh Hamnett finished tied for fourth after shooting 147.

Ben Marckmann tied for eighth individually, shooting 150.

Luis Limón shot 151, which placed him 11th overall.

Connor Williamson rounded out the team play for the Lions, shooting a 158 and ending 21st.

Blake Heimburger also competed for the Lions individually and tied for 24th with a 159.

The men's golf team will travel April 1-2 to Monkey Island in Oklahoma to compete in a designated MIAA event at Shangri La Golf Resort.
