A motorcycle accident on southbound Highway 101 south of Mussel Shoals blocked lanes for a time midday Saturday.

The crash was reported shortly before 12 p.m. north of the Seacliff interchange, according to California Highway Patrol and Ventura County Fire Department reports. The two southbound lanes are currently split before the Seacliff ramps as part of a major pavement upgrade project.

The rider reportedly went down in the left bypass lane, which has been routed onto the fast lane of the northbound freeway. K-rail separates southbound motorists from northbound traffic along the split section.

Firefighters requested temporary closure of the northbound lanes to access the rider.

The rider suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP.

Traffic in both directions was backed up for more than two hours.
