Mohawk Valley's top Week 4 football players and games from Saturday

West Canada Valley 62, Waterville 14

NEWPORT — Coming off of a bye week, West Canada Valley bounced back from its first loss with 62-14 victory over the Waterville Eagles on Saturday.

Waterville (2-2, 1-2 Eight Player East) got off to a positive start with Jackson Ruane's return of the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Eagles were unable to convert on their two-point try, and West Canada Valley (3-1, 2-1 Eight Player East) took the lead before the end of the first quarter; quarterback Sean Burdick ran a sneak for the tying touchdown and ran in the conversion for an 8-6 lead.

West Canada Valley would then outscore Waterville 54-0 in the second and third quarters. Burdick, who was helped off the field late in West Canada Valley's 30-26 loss to Frankfort-Schuyler two weeks earlier, ran for two more touchdowns and passed for five others, a career-high. He completed 14 of 21 passes for 336 yards with three Iain Farber touchdowns and two by Camerohn Ludwig.

Farber caught seven passes for 199 yards and had touchdowns covering 27, 18 and 77 yards. Ludwig had six receptions for 119 yards and scored on plays covering 51 and 4 yards in the second quarter.

Defensively, Farber was in on 18 tackles with a sack among three for lost yardage. Blake Reese added 12 tackles.West Canada Valley plays its final scheduled home game Saturday against South Lewis. Waterville plays at home Thursday against New York Mills.

Baldwinsville 22, Utica-Proctor 8

UTICA — Baldwinsville took a 15-0 lead in the first quarter and shut out Utica's Proctor Raiders through the third on the way to a 22-8 victory for its first win of the season.

Greg Marinelli threw for 131 yards for Baldwinsville (1-4, 1-1 AA-1) with three of his five completions going for touchdowns, two to Logan McIntyre and one to Nico Wellman. Wellman caught three passes for 70 yards and led the Bees with 58 yards rushing on six carries.

Kamal Cisson-Ali ran for a touchdown for Proctor (1-3, 0-2 AA-1) in the fourth quarter.

Proctor has lost three consecutive games after starting the season with a win over Binghamton. The Raiders play at Fayetteville-Manlius on Friday.

IAIN FARBER, West Canada Valley - Had seven receptions for 199 yards and three touchdowns against Waterville.

CARTER HIGHERS, Morrisville-Eaton - Ran for two touchdowns and caught two touchdown passes at Bishop Grimes.

CAMEROHN LUDWIG, West Canada Valley - Caught six passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns against Waterville.

AUSTIN ZALESKI, Morrisville-Eaton - Ran for touchdowns covering 59, 51 and 22 yards at Bishop Grimes.
