Late model driver Chad Becker of Aberdeen claims titles at both area racetracks

WATERTOWN — Six drivers were crowned 2023 points champions after the Track Championships were held Sunday night at Casino Speedway in Watertown.

Chad Becker of Aberdeen won the late model points title for the fifth-straight year and Maria Broksieck of Goodwin (street stocks), Adam VanDerostyne of Canby, Minn. (hornets) and Tony Croninger of Watertown (limited late models) each repeated as champions from 2022.

First-time points champions included Tommy Nichols of Watertown, Midwest modifieds; and Joseph Thomas of Fargo (N.D.), modifieds.

Sunday's feature winners included Becker, late models (fifth); Peterson, modifieds (third); Mike Nichols of Watertown, Midwest modifieds (third); Justin Vogel of Brooten (Minn.), street stocks (first); Bradley Rossow of Florence, hornets (fourth) and Curt Kranz of Watertown, limited late models (first).

The Busch Light Draw/Re-Draw Showdown, featuring all six regular classes of cars, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Brown County Speedway

ABERDEEN — The Track Championships were held Friday and Saturday and five drivers won season points titles at the racetrack.

Season champions included Chad Becker of Aberdeen, late models; Chris Serr of Aberdeen, street stocks; Mike Stearns of Aberdeen, modifieds; Jeremy North of Huron, super stocks; and Taylor Schmidt of Bath, Midwest modifieds.

The Big Buck Nationals will be held Thursday through Saturday at BCS. Racing starts at 7 p.m. each night.
