Mitchell boys fall at Aberdeen Central in road contest

Sep. 26—ABERDEEN — Mitchell scored first but Aberdeen Central ripped off seven goals in a row on the way to a 9-2 Eastern South Dakota Conference boys soccer victory on Tuesday night.

Mitchell's Caden Olegario scored less than 2 minutes into Tuesday night's contest, beating the goalkeeper after an assisting pass from Jackson Deakins. But the Golden Eagles tied the game midway through the first half and scored four more times in a 15-minute span to lead 5-1 at halftime.

Down 7-1 halfway through the second half, Kernel freshman Gavin Zilla had the goal of the night with a 25-yard strike on a direct free kick that fluttered into the upper-left section of the net and beat a diving goalkeeper.

Aberdeen (7-4) picked up three goals from Manuel Munoz, two goals from Tyson Hassebroek and Tyler Bain and a goal each from Philip Abel and Lawson Hansen.

Mitchell (1-11-1) closes the regular season at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 against James Valley Christian at Joe Quintal Field.
