Mississippi's top linebacker prospect, Madison-Ridgeland Academy's Stone Blanton, commits to South Carolina
Four-star linebacker Stone Blanton is headed to South Carolina.
Blanton — the No. 1 linebacker in the state — committed to the Gamecocks at Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Monday.

The senior picked South Carolina over Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas A&M, which were included in his top four schools in September.
Blanton also received offers from Auburn, Louisville, Oregon and Stanford among others.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Blanton is the No. 9 recruit in the state and the No. 36 linebacker nationally according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He's the No. 363 overall recruit in the country.

The 2021 Dandy Dozen selection had 106 tackles, 22 for loss, 10 sacks, five quarterback hurries, an interception and a forced fumble in 11 games for the Patriots.
Blanton led MRA (11-3) to the program's third consecutive MAIS Class 6A championship this season. The senior had four tackles in the Patriots' 42-7 victory over Hartfield Academy in the MAIS title game.
