HOOVER, Ala. — Mississippi State baseball's time in the SEC tournament is on the ropes. The Bulldogs have reached win-or-go-home territory.

No. 5 seed MSU (38-20) faces No. 1 seed Tennessee (47-11) in an elimination game Friday. It's the first meeting between the programs this season.

The Bulldogs opened the conference tournament with a win against rival and No. 12 seed Ole Miss on Tuesday. That was followed by a win against No. 4 seed Texas A&M on Wednesday before a loss against No. 8 seed Vanderbilt in the third round.

The Vols quickly fell into the loser's bracket with a loss to open SEC tournament play Wednesday against the Commodores. However, Tennessee responded with a victory against Texas A&M on Thursday.

The winner between MSU and UT will have a rematch with Vanderbilt on Saturday (3:30 p.m., SEC Network). The loser will start preparing for the an NCAA regional. MSU hasn't been part of the NCAA Tournament since its 2021 national title run.
