Mississippi State football adds FCS foe North Alabama to 2028 nonconference schedule

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football is adding a home game against North Alabama to its 2028 nonconference schedule, a team spokesperson told the Clarion Ledger. The teams will square off on Sept. 2.

Mississippi State's other nonconference games lined up for 2028 are against Texas Tech on Sept. 9 and at Memphis on Sept. 16.

The Bulldogs don't have a fourth nonconference opponent set up. However, if the SEC elects to expand to a nine-game conference schedule, Mississippi State likely wouldn't need to add a fourth team.

Brent Dearmon is entering his first season as North Alabama's head coach. The Lions and Bulldogs have never been opponents.
