TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — As the schedule turns to February, Mississippi State basketball is still seeking its first true road win. Obtaining it Saturday won't be easy as MSU takes on the SEC-leading Alabama Crimson Tide.
No. 22 Alabama (15-6, 7-1 SEC) is off to a hot start in conference play, capped by three straight wins. The Crimson Tide fended off rival Auburn on Jan. 24 before collecting victories against LSU and Georgia. Against UGA on Wednesday, Alabama overcame a 13-point deficit in the final 11 minutes.

Saturday marks the second meeting this season between MSU (14-7, 3-5) and Alabama. The Bulldogs dropped their home contest against the Tide on Jan. 13 thanks in large part to struggles from the free-throw line.
Alabama was led, per usual, by guard Mark Sears' 22 points. Mississippi State had four players in double figures, including a team-best 15 points from Tolu Smith − though that came on 5-15 shooting from the field.
