Milwaukee reporter arrested after fight with fellow reporter at Brewers-Cubs game
There were plenty of fights at Miller Park on Friday as the Brewers and Cubs continued their rivalry, but one was not like the others. Rather than team loyalty, this one came from personal animus.
WITI-TV reporter Adair “A.J.” Bayatpour has been arrested and is facing possible felony chargers after an argument led to a punch at the Brewers game on Friday, according to a report from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Per the report, Bayatpour had been critical of his colleague Madeline Anderson. Ben Jordan, Anderson’s boyfriend and reporter at Milwaukee rival WTMJ-TV, reportedly moved in to defend her and was struck by Bayatpour, causing “significant injury.” Bayatpour was arrested on charges of significant battery and released on bail, while prosecutors decide whether or not to file formal charges.
Funnily enough, Bayatpour’s own station posted a story about fights that broke out at the Brewers-Cubs game, a natural byproduct of a contentious rivalry between two teams aiming for the postseason. Featuring video from three different fights in the stands, the article acknowledges the station’s own employee’s fight at the end with a single sentence.
“FOX6 News is aware a WITI employee was involved in an altercation at Miller Park on Friday night, and we are investigating the incident,” the article says.
