Milwaukee native Luis Feliciano knocked out for first loss of his boxing career

Luis Feliciano now has a loss on his record.

The Milwaukee native and Marquette University graduate was knocked out by Mykquan Williams in the sixth round of their fight Wednesday night in Plant City, Florida.

Feliciano, 30, was knocked down twice in round 2 for only the second and third time in his career during the fight for the World Boxing Association Continental Americas super lightweight title.

Williams, 25, a native of Hartford, Connecticut, is likely to move on to bigger stages. He remains undefeated at 20-0-2.

Chris Algieri, a pro boxer and commentator of the fight, said Williams "graduated" from ProBox TV, the platform that aired Wednesday's fight. Paulie Malignaggi, a former pro boxer and commentator, said Feliciano is a great fighter and Williams' knockout victory shows that Williams is on a different level than Feliciano.

The final blow came at 1:43 of the sixth round. Feliciano was stung by a right hook from Williams only for Williams to keep charging with a 1-2 punch, with Feliciano falling forward on his face.

Feliciano got up, but referee Frank Santore Jr. stopped the fight as Feliciano had trouble standing.

Feliciano, who grew up on Milwaukee's east side, is 17-1 as a pro. He told the Journal Sentinel in December that he signed a three-fight deal with ProBox TV.
