Mike Vrabel updates Will Levis' injury status; Tennessee Titans QB in line to start vs Texans

The Tennessee Titans should get another look at their future.

Titans quarterback Will Levis is expected to start when the Titans (5-10) face the Houston Texans (8-7) in Houston on Sunday (noon, Fox) after missing one game with an ankle injury. Levis has practiced without any limitations this week and hasn't sported a noticeable brace or tape job on the ankle during the media viewing periods of practice.

"He's in line to start," Titans coach Mike Vrabel said. "That's good. Being able to get him back and continue to get this work and help us find a way to win a road game within the division."

Will Levis stats as Titans rookie

Levis has started eight games for the Titans this season, throwing eight touchdowns with four interceptions and leading the team to a 3-5 record. The rookie was injured two weeks ago, coincidentally in the last game the Titans played against the Texans. He was hit 11 times and sacked seven times in that game, an overtime loss.

Without Levis last week, the Titans turned the position to veteran Ryan Tannehill, who threw for 152 yards with neither an interception nor a touchdown.

Every player on the Titans' 53-man active roster was spotted at the team's practice Friday. Vrabel ruled out cornerback Caleb Farley, who is on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. Vrabel said decisions have not been made about practice squad elevations for the weekend. The Titans signed five players to their practice squad earlier in the week: tight end Devin Asiasi, LB Tae Crowder, DT David Moa, DB Darius Phillips and DB Kendall Sheffield.

In the past two weeks, the Titans have had to place numerous starters on injured reserve to make roster space. This includes defensive linemen Jeffery Simmons and Kyle Peko, defensive backs Kristian Fulton and Amani Hooker and linebackers Jack Gibbens and Luke Gifford.
