Mike Tyson would fight Jake Paul ‘to break the (Mayweather-Pacquiao PPV) record’
Mike Tyson might be warming to the idea of fighting Jake Paul.
Tyson told Joe Rogan on the former heavyweight champ’s podcast that he would face the YouTuber-turned-boxer in an exhibition to break the pay-per-view record of 4.6 million set by Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
Tyson, 55, fought Roy Jones Jr. in a successful exhibition in November 2020.
“Hell yeah, only to break the record,” Tyson said when he was asked whether he’d face Paul. “Let’s do it Jakey, God, wouldn’t that be cool?”
Tyson went on: “Jake Paul believe it not is more profitable than the champs. This guy probably brings about 80 million people to the table.”
However, Tyson has partied with Paul. And he worries about his counterpart’s behavior.
“I worry about him getting in trouble before the fight (between them) happened,” Tyson said. “I’d tell him, ‘Hey man, you’re going to go for jail for real, chill out.’ This dude’s crazy, he would be throwing stuff at people, bottles and stuff.”
Rumors about an exhibition between Tyson and either Logan or Jake Paul have persisted for some time because the immense popularity of both men, which would translate into a windfall. However, Tyson seemed to poo-poo the speculation in the past.
