Michigan State's A.J. Hoggard wears shorts backward to start March Madness game vs MSU

If one of Leonidas' 300 Spartans was standing the wrong way at the Battle of Thermopylae, one can presume someone would have noticed. And that was without social media.

So it went for Michigan State guard A.J. Hoggard, who began the Spartans' March Madness run especially mad by seemingly donning his shorts backward, as eagle-eyed X (formerly Twitter) user Jay Cuda pointed out in the first half of MSU's first-round game against Mississippi State.

At some schools a player might get away with such a silly wardrobe malfunction, but given Michigan State wears a Spartan head on their shorts, it's easier to notice.

Hoggard fixed his shorts by the half, but not before some people noticed on X.

Is it a perfectly honest mistake? Yes, 100%. Is it a hilarious one to make during the literal first game of a tournament? Also 100%.

Michigan State played a frenetic first half and took a 31-24 lead into the half despite seven turnovers. Hoggard, for his part, had five points and five assists in that half.
