Michigan football opens as favorite against Minnesota

Michigan football is favored in its season opener against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The No. 17 Wolverines are a 3-point road favorite for the 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Minneapolis, according to pregame.com. It's the first game for U-M since the state legalized sports betting. The over/under is at 55 points.

The matchup is also each team's first game since the Big Ten reinstated its fall football season after postponing kickoff in August.

Michigan is coming off a 9-5 season that ended with a Citrus Bowl loss to Alabama. PJ Fleck and No. 21 Minnesota are trying to build on an 11-2 year that included an Outback Bowl win vs. Auburn.

U-M has beaten Minnesota in eight of their last nine meetings and has lost to the Gophers just three times since 1978.
