Michigan football gets 3-star LB Hayden Moore after flip from Nebraska

Less than one week after Michigan football received a transfer portal commit from a Nebraska linebacker, the Wolverines are again poaching someone who was supposed to help the middle of the Cornhuskers defense.

Hayden Moore, a three-star linebacker from Aurora, Colorado, committed to the Wolverines on Monday afternoon, he is the 21st commit in the class of 2023. Verbal commits can begin to sign with their respective colleges beginning on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

Moore, 6 feet 3 and 210 pounds, committed to Nebraska in June after an official visit. However the Regis Jesuit High School star took an official visit to Ann Arbor on Friday and decommitted from Nebraska on Sunday.

Moore is ranked the No. 103 linebacker in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Wolverines have the No. 20 overall recruiting class for 2023 and the top transfer portal class in the country.

Scott Frost was Nebraska's head coach when Moore pledged to the Cornhuskers, but he was relieved of his duties after a 1-2 start this season. Mickey Joseph took over as the interim coach (he was relieved of coaching duties over the weekend following an arrest) before Matt Rhule, former coach at Baylor and in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, was named head coach on Nov. 26.

The Wolverines also got Ernest Hausmann in the transfer portal from Nebraska last week. The freshman was ranked the No. 1 transfer recruit available by 247Sports after he appeared in 10 games, recorded 54 tackles (36 solo) with one sack (against Michigan) and one fumble recovery.

Hausmann is one of five incoming transfers to this point, joining OL Myles Hinton (Stanford), OL Drake Nugent (Stanford) OL LaDarius Henderson (Arizona State), and LB Josaiah Stewart (Coastal Carolina).

Three-star Ohio DB heading to Ann Arbor

Michigan got a verbal commitment from three-star defensive back D'Juan Waller Jr. late Sunday evening. Waller, a 6-3, 195-pound product from Chaney High in Youngstown, Ohio, has a long frame for a defensive back. It's not yet clear if he will stay at corner or become a safety or outside linebacker.

Waller was previously pledged to Toledo before he decommitted at the end of October. From there, it was a two-team race between Michigan and Kentucky, but the Wolverines' Steve Clinkscale got the commitment over Kentucky's superstar recruiter Vince Marrow.

Waller is a high school teammate of Jason Hewlett, a 6-4 athlete who committed to the Wolverines at the end of November.
