Michael Malone: Bones Hyland officially part of Nuggets rotation

Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone on Friday confirmed that rookie Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland will be part of the rotation moving forward.

Hyland did not play in three of the first five games with the Nuggets, and didn’t log more than 11 minutes in the two games he did play in. He has since averaged 8.3 points, 2.3 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 18.1 minutes over his last three games.

The change in the rotation comes as the Nuggets rank 27th in bench scoring. Malone has been high on Hyland given his scoring ability since training camp. The team will now get him extended playing time with the hope he can add more scoring, according to Katy Winge of Altitude TV.

Hyland finished as the rookie scoring leader in the preseason, averaging 15.2 points per game, so the Nuggets know he can produce. The team has lost four out of their last six games with the bench scoring a huge area of concern during that span so a change was imminent.

The Nuggets will now look to Hyland to help improve their production off the bench. Certainly, he has proven to be capable of that and could begin to flourish on the court in a larger role.
