Miami RedHawks transfer Kam Butler of CovCath HS commits to Virginia Cavaliers

Former Covington Catholic High School standout Kam Butler, a star defensive lineman for the Miami University RedHawks for the past four seasons, announced his commitment Friday via Twitter to play for the Virginia Cavaliers as a grad transfer.

Butler tweeted in January that he received an offer from UVA. He had announced one day earlier that he was entering the transfer portal.

Butler was named to the 2021 All-MAC First Team Defense in his final season at MU after earning second-team honors in each of the previous two seasons.

AJ Mayer, a quarterback who was Butler's teammate at CovCath and Miami, announced the same day as Butler that he was entering the transfer portal. He has not yet announced his commitment.
