Miami Dolphins predictions: How big of a blowout do NFL experts expect vs. the Panthers?

Sunday's matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers doesn't look close on paper.

The 4-1 Dolphins bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 31-16 win last week against the one-win New York Giants. The Panthers wish they had that one win: They're 0-5 after a 42-24 loss to the Detroit Lions.

It's not all good news for Miami. Though Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill are leading a record-setting offense, they'll be without breakout rookie De'Von Achane for at least four weeks after the running back injured his knee Sunday. Raheem Mostert is expected to take on the lead role in the backfield with Salvon Ahmed and possibly Jeff Wilson Jr. pitching in. Will new receiver Chase Claypool be integrated into Mike McDaniel's offense this week?

Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick in April's NFL Draft, went 25 of 41 for 247 yards and three touchdowns last week, both career bests in four starts, but he also threw two interceptions. The former Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama has also fumbled three times this season. His favorite target has been Adam Thielen, who had 11 catches for 107 yards and a TD against the Lions.

Can Carolina pull off the upset, or is Miami due for another explosive day? Here's a look at what NFL reporters and analysts are predicting:

Safid Deen, USA TODAY: Dolphins 31-14

"The Dolphins lost the NFL’s second-leading rusher De’Von Achane to a knee injury and injured reserve, but the league’s most potent offense won’t have troubles against the upstart Panthers. Tua Tagovailoa welcomes his Alabama mate Bryce Young to Miami and sends him home with a loss."

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News: Dolphins 42-22

"The Dolphins are destroying teams at home with their speed and quickness, whether with their dynamic power running game or big-play passing game. The Panthers have struggled defensively with both of those aspects. They also are not good in pass protection for Bryce Young and the Dolphins' defense is built to rush the passer. Tua Tagovailoa cleans up some things to be the better former Alabama star QB."

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: Dolphins 34-13

"The Panthers are playing consecutive road games, which is tough, but it's even tougher when you have to try and defend the Miami offense. The Dolphins are rolling on that side of the ball and did show improvement last week on defense. This will be a rough day for Bryce Young and gang as the Miami track team rolls on."

Maurice Moton, Bleacher Report: Dolphins 34-17

Moton picked Miami to win but said Bryce Young can help Carolina cover the spread: "Coming off his most productive pro performance — he threw for 247 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions against the Detroit Lions — 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young could show more glimpses of promise against Miami's 20th-ranked pass defense.

"The Dolphins beat the Giants at home by 15 points last week, but the Panthers should fare a little better at Hard Rock Stadium with Young, who seems capable of moving the ball on a leaky defense."

Gennaro Filice, NFL.com: Dolphins 40-13

"Mike McDaniel's video game offense leads the NFL in scoring (36.2 ppg), passing (327.8 ypg), rushing (185.8 ypg) and a host of additional statistics that'd only serve to belabor one simple point: Miami is a freaking WAGON. Sure, the absurd productivity is unsustainable over the course of a season, but what makes you think this is a game where the Dolphins don't roll downhill? Oh, rookie sensation De’Von Achane just hit injured reserve? OK, then it's finally Jaylen Waddle's turn to take the baton and run circles around a defense. The league's only winless team, Carolina has lost each of its three road contests by double digits. Meanwhile, the Fins have rolled up 101 points and 1,250 yards in two games this season at Hard Rock Stadium. Projecting a 40-burger might be conservative."

Bill Bender, Sporting News: Dolphins 38-17

"The Dolphins are the most-exciting offense in the NFL with coach Mike McDaniel, one where Tua Tagovailoa is conducting with the help of three players who have scored at least five touchdowns in Raheem Mostert, De’Von Achane and Tyreek Hill. Carolina has a future with Bryce Young, but this team is not ready for this challenge quite yet. The Panthers are 0-5 ATS this season, too. Get this line before they add a hook."

John Breech, CBS Sports: Dolphins 34-16
