Mets, Phillies announce lineups for series opener on Friday night

The New York Mets hope to close out a disappointing month on a positive note as they take on the surging Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Entering June with a 30-27 record, it's been all downhill for the Mets. The team started the month on a seven-game losing streak and were without the current National League home-run leader, Pete Alonso, for 10 days with a bone bruise and sprained left wrist. The Mets are now 34-40 and have not won a series since sweeping the Phillies at Citi Field to end the month of May.

It's been the complete opposite for the Phillies. After an 8-7 loss to the Washington Nationals on June 2, Philadelphia is 13-4 and had multiple six-game winning streaks over that span.

The Mets will hope its recent success against their division rivals continue as they're 17-4 against the Phillies in the last 21 meetings.
