The Mets look to keep the winning ways on the west coast going against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, April 22 at 4:07 p.m.


Mets Notes

  • The Mets have outscored opponents 53-29 on the road trip and gone 7-1 to improve to seven games over .500 on the season.

  • Pete Alonso became the first big leaguer to record 10 home runs with a two-run shot Friday, he now has more home runs on the season than the entire Washington Nationals (9). He is the first player in team history to have 10 homers before May 1.

  • Jeff McNeil is heating up going 10-for-21 (.476) with two doubles, a homer, three RBI and three walks in the last six games.

  • Not to be outdone, Brandon Nimmo is 18-for-35 (.514) on the eight-game trip with four doubles, a homer, six RBI and three walks.

  • Adam Ottavino and David Robertson have combined for a 1.58 ERA (3 runs in 17.1 innings) with five walks and 19 strikeouts while converting seven of eight save chances.

  • With just four errors in 21 games, the Mets have committed the least in baseball and have an MLB-best .995 fielding percentage.




Who is starting for the Mets?

Lefty David Peterson (1-2) will make his fifth start on the season for New York. His last time out he earned he allowed six runs on seven hits over six innings but earned the win over the Los Angles Dodgers.

So far this year, Peterson has pitched to a 6.10 ERA (5.52 FIP) in 20.2 innings allowing 14 runs (all earned) on 26 hits while walking eight and striking out 22. He's posted a 1.645 WHIP, up from his 1.334 WHIP in 105.2 innings in 2022.

In his one career appearance against the Giants, he allowed just two runs on three hits in six innings to earn the win on May 23, 2022.

Who is starting for the Giants?

Right-hander Logan Webb (0-4) has not pitched as poorly as his record would indicate. In four starts this campaign, the career Giant and California native has allowed 16 runs (13 earned) over 23.2 innings good for a 4.94 ERA (4.23 FIP). He's allowed 26 hits (five home runs) while walking just three and striking out 28 for a 1.225 WHIP on the year.
