Memphis-area rankings: Lewisburg moves up to No. 1 after big win

Lewisburg softball had an historic win over Hernando over the weekend, reaching the Mississippi High School Activities Association 6A playoffs. It's just the third time the Patriots have made it to the North Half championship; they'll play South Panola in a three-game series.

Along with MHSAA, the Tennessee high school softball playoffs and district tournaments are underway this week. With district tournaments wrapping up, region tournament begin this week in Tennessee.

Here are this week's Memphis area softball rankings.

1. Lewisburg (25-9): The Patriots defeated Hernando in three games to reach the Mississippi High School Activities Association 6A semifinals. Last week’s ranking: No. 2.

2. Collierville (24-5): The Dragons defeated Houston on Monday night to reach the District 15-4A championship game. Last week’s ranking: No. 3.

3. Tipton-Rosemark (20-14-1): The Rebels play in the region title game this week ahead of the first round of the Division II-A playoffs. Last week’s ranking: No. 4.

4. Arlington (21-6-1): The Tigers will play for a district championship ahead of the Division I-4A region tournament this week. Last week’s ranking: No. 5.

5. Hernando (27-8): The Tigers’ season ended in the third round of the MHSAA 6A playoffs after a Game 3 loss to Lewisburg. Last week’s ranking: No. 1.

6. Munford (14-6): The Cougars defeated Brighton in the District 14-4A tournament on Monday night. Last week’s ranking: No. 6.

7. Millington (13-12): The Trojans defeated Fayette-Ware on Monday night for a District 15-3A championship. Last week’s ranking: No. 10.

8. Brighton (14-12): The Cardinals lost to Munford in the District 14-4A tournament on Monday night. Last week’s ranking: No. 7.

9. Houston (15-9): The Mustangs lost to Collierville last week during the District 15-4A tournament. Last week’s ranking: No. 8.

10. DeSoto Central (16-11): The Jaguars are down to No. 10 in this week’s rankings and their season ended last week against Madison Central. Last week’s ranking: No. 9.
