Meet the All-WNC high school wrestling team for the 2023-2024 season

The North Carolina high school winter sports season concluded March 16 after the basketball state championships.

The wrestling season wrapped up Feb. 17 with Robbinsville winning the NCHSAA 1A team title at the individual state tournament and Avery County finishing second in the 1A dual state championships. Western North Carolina also numerous wrestlers win individual state titles.

With the winter sports season behind us, here are the All-WNC boys and girls wrestling teams.

Boys Wrestler of the Year

Kage Williams

Robbinsville

190 pound | Sr.

The Appalachian State signee became the 13th NCHSAA wrestler to earn the distinction of four-time state champion, defeating Mitchell's Camron Cook by pin in three minutes in the 1A 190-pound state final. Williams went 41-0 with 28 pins this season.

Coach of the Year

David Haney

Robbinsville

Haney led Robbinsville to its first team title in the individual state tournament. Robbinsville went 32-3 in the dual season, with its only losses coming to Roberson, Uwharrie Charter and Avery County.

First Team

Skylar Anderson

Robbinsville

106 | Jr.

Anderson recorded a third-place finish at the 1A championships. He went 50-4 with 20 pins while helping Robbinsville capture its first team title at the individual state tournament.

Cooper Foster

Avery County

113 | Jr.

Foster capped off a 53-0 season with a 1A title over Robbinsville's Adair Panama. Foster recorded 42 pins.

Alexis Panama

Robbinsville

120 | Sr.

Panama went 50-3 while capturing the 1A championship over Thomasville's Josue Gomez. Panama had 37 pins.

Gunner Marshall

East Henderson

126 | Jr.

Marshall finish sixth at the 3A championship and went 51-7 this season.

Benjamin Jordan

Avery County

132 | Sr.

Jordan guided Avery County to the 1A duals final while collecting a 50-1 record with 40 pins. He also won the 1A state championship.

Fisher McPherson

Owen

138 | Sr.

McPherson placed fifth at the 2A championships and went 50-11.

Kenneth Pritz

Avery County

144 | Jr.

Pritz compiled a 52-0 record with 35 pins and won the 1A title over Tarboro's Stephen Ribustello.

Bodhi McCormack

Enka

150 | Sr.

McCormack finished as the 3A runner-up to North Gaston's James Weaver. McCormack went 51-7 with 33 pins this season.

Xander Hill

Pisgah

157 | Sr.

Hill was the 3A West Regional runner-up while compiling a 52-4 record.

Jaxon Turner

Brevard

165 | Sr.

Turner capped his career with a 2A title. He went 43-1 with 22 pins.

Cael Dunn

Avery County

175 | So.

Dunn won the 1A championship for the second consecutive season. He finished with a 55-0 record and 50 pins.

Reese Meadows

North Henderson

215 | Sr.

Meadows went 56-2 and finished third at the 3A championship. He was named Mountain 7 wrestler of the year and won his regional.

Koleson Dooley

Robbinsville

285 | Sr.

Dooley helped Robbinsville win its first team title at the individual state tournament. He went 37-4 and repeated as a state champion.

Lylah Cogdill

In only her second year of wrestling, Cogdill tallied a fifth-place finish at state, finishing with a 44-3 record. She also won her regional.

Morgan Repasky

McDowell

100 | Sr.

Repasky finished at the NCHSAA women's individual state championship. She also won her regional.

Liliana Zapote

North Henderson

107 | Sr.

Zapote went 29-4 and advanced to the NCHSAA women's individual state championship.

Treyleigh Miller

Pisgah

114 | So.

Miller finished fourth at the state championship meet. She went 28-8 and finished second at regionals.

Sydney Mark

Asheville High

120 | So.

Mark went 14-5 while advancing to the state tournament. She also won her regional.

Emma Burnes

Smoky Mountain

126 | So.

Burnes placed fourth at states. She finished with a 40-9 record.

Tasia Neadeau

Swain County

132 | Jr.

Neadeau went 39-9 and won her regional. She has a career record of 79-21.

Lily Reese

Roberson

145 | Fr.

Reese was one of the best freshmen wrestlers in Western North Carolina. She finished fourth place at the state meet and had a 25-6 record.

Lily Flores

Avery County

152 | So.

Flores finished as the runner-up at the inaugural NCHSAA girls championship. She went 23-6.

Shaylee Temple

Smoky Mountain

165 | Fr.

Temple went 22-15 and finished sixth at states.

Franshesca Morales

North Henderson

185 | Sr.

Morales finished with a 22-3 record and sixth at states.

Kimberly Talton

Madison

235 | So.

Talton put together a 35-4 record while collecting a fourth-place finish at states.
