Meet the amateurs to make the cut at 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach
When the week started, nearly 20 percent of the U.S. Women’s Open field at Pebble Beach was comprised of amateurs.
There were 28 amateurs who started the week on the Monterey Peninsula in the field of 156, including world No. 2 Saki Baba, but most of them are heading home after two days at the third women’s major championship of the year.
Only four amateurs earned weekend tee times and will vie for the low-amateur medal, which will be awarded during Sunday’s trophy presentation. The cut was 6-over par.
Here’s a look at the amateurs who made the cut at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open.
Aine Donegan (1 over)
Donegan, who had an eventful start to the week, is on to the weekend thanks to rounds of 69-76 and is in the top 20.
Monet Chun (3 over)
Chun, the runner-up in the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur, fired rounds of 74-73 to make the weekend in her first U.S. Women’s Open.
Benedetta Moresco (3 over)
Moresco struggled to start her second round, bogeying six holes and adding a double on the 10th, her first of the day, but she birdies Nos. 6 and 8 to solidify her position in the top 25 heading into the weekend.
Amari Avery (3 over)
Avery had an up-and-down day after an opening 70, but she stuffed her approach to 3 feet on the par-4 ninth, her final hole, and made birdie to head into the weekend.
