Meet the 2024 Southwest Florida All-Area Girls Weightlifting Team sponsored by Babcock Ranch
At the end of each season, The News-Press and Naples Daily News select All-Area teams honoring the best athletes for every sport. Coaches from area schools are sent nomination forms and are asked to nominate and rate their athletes as well as those from other teams. That data combined with our research led to the selection of the All-Area team.
FIRST TEAM
Cloelle Altaratz
School: Barron Collier
Year: Junior
Highlights: At 169 pounds, Altaratz finished third in the Class 2A Olympic division (330 pounds) and 10th for Traditional. She also swept first place in both lifts in Region 2A-4.
Aleah Baron
School: LaBelle
Year: Junior
Highlights: Baron brought home the silver from the Class 2A meet, capturing second in the unlimited class for Traditional (445 pounds) and Olympic (385). She swept first place in the lifts at the Region 2A-4 meet.
School: Fort Myers
Year: Senior
Highlights: The 154-pounder captured eighth at the Class 2A meet in the Olympic lift and also qualified for Traditional. She finished third in Region 2A-4 for Traditional and fourth for Olympic.
Shanetta Brown
School: Gateway
Year: Junior
Highlights: Brown captured the bronze medal at 183 pounds in CLass 2A for the Traditional lifts by combined for 345 pounds. She placed second in Region 2A-4 and District 2A-13 in the lift.
Peyton Burnside
School: Fort Myers
Year: Junior
Highlights: Burnside placed fifth in Class 2A in the 139-pound division and also qualified for state in the Olympic lifts. She also won the Region 2A-4 title in Traditional and placed second for Olympic lifts.
Maya Egalite
School: Fort Myers
Year: Senior
Highlights: Egalite took two medals in CLass 2A at 199 pounds. She placed second for Traditional lifts (385 pounds) and sixth for Olympic. She swept both titles at Region 2A-4 including a combined 400 pounds in Traditional.
Natalia Franco
School: Fort Myers
Year: Junior
Highlights: Four was Franco's number as she placed fourth at 101 pounds in Class 2A in the Traditional (250 pounds) and Olympic (235) lifts. She won the Olympic lifts in Region 2A-4 and placed second for Traditional.
Imani Greaves
School: LaBelle
Year: Junior
Highlights: The first-year lifter took two medals in Class 2A, taking second in the 183-pound Traditional lifts (390 pounds) and fifth in Olympic lifts. She swept the titles at the Region 2A-4 meet.
Jill Jacobs
School: Fort Myers
Year: Senior
Highlights: Jacobs captured sixth at the Class 2A meet in the 129-pound Traditional competition with a 300 and qualified for state in the Olympic lifts. She won both lifts at the Region 2A-4 meet.
Kasey Johnson
School: ECS
Year: Junior
Highlights: Johnson captured fourth at 139 pounds in the Class A Olympic lifts with a 305 and qualified for state in Traditional lifts. In the Region A-4 meet, she won both the Olympic and Traditional titles.
Emma Palmer
School: ECS
Year: Junior
Highlights: Palmer finished 10th in Traditional at 169 pounds at state with 315 pounds. She won the Region A-4 titles in the Traditional (330) and Olympic (325) lifts.
Kendall Sullivan
School: Bishop Verot
Year: Senior
Highlights: The 119-pounder placed seventh in the Class A Olympic lifts by recording 245 pounds, becoming the first Vikings lifter to medal at state. She also placed fourth in Region A-4 in Traditional lifts and second in Olympic (245).

Highlights: Under McClain, the Cowgirls broke seven school records on the way to placing seventh in Class 2A in Traditional lifts and 10th for Olympic with four lifters at state. LaBelle was also the Region 2A-4 runner-up for both lifts and the District 2A-13 Olympic runner-up.
