The 2023 Providence Journal All-State Gymnastics First Team
Brooke Anderson
Cranston West, Senior
Anderson returned with a newfound focus this season and was an elite performer from the first meet to the final one. A second-team performer as a freshman, Anderson dominated in her final state meet. She won gold in bars, silver in the vault and finished first in the all-around, beating Barrington All-Stater Shaye Robinson by .750 to become the Falcons’ first champ.
Morgan Correia
La Salle, Senior
Correia, a second-team selection each of the last two years, makes the leap to the first team thanks to a terrific performance in her final state meet. The Rams’ senior finished third in the all-around with 36.2 points, just .025 out of second place, highlighted by a second-place finish on the bars, and helped La Salle win the team title.
Anastasia Lynch
La Salle, Senior
The state championship trophy returned to La Salle thanks in part to the performance of the senior sensation. Lynch picked up her first career gold with a score of 9.625 in the vault, beating the all-around champ by .025. Lynch finished 11th in the all-around.
Olivia Pelletier
Prout/Exeter-West Greenwich, Senior
The first title for the Prout/Exeter-West Greenwich co-op came thanks to a stellar effort from Pelletier. The senior makes her debut as an All-Stater after a gold-medal performance on the beam where she scored a 9.3, beating Barrington’s Shaye Robinson by .05, on her way to a sixth-place finish in the all-around.
Shaye Robinson
Barrington, Senior
Robinson wrapped up a truly terrific career at Barrington with her third All-State season. A runner-up in the all-around as a freshman and junior — COVID took away her sophomore season — Robinson finished second again this season after earning silver on the beam, bronze on the floor, finishing fourth on the bars and fifth in the vault.
Savannah Wilson
South Kingstown, Freshman
The Rebels’ freshman makes her debut as an All-Stater after making a splash in her first season. Wilson won gold on the floor, scoring a 9.4, besting Pilgrim’s Riley Bromage by .1. She added a third-place finish in the vault and was fourth in the All-Around competition, making her a favorite to win big next winter.
