May-Port-C-G punches ticket to state volleyball for first time in 21 years

Nov. 9—LARIMORE, N.D. — Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg is back at the North Dakota Class B state volleyball tournament for the first time since 2002.

Danica Hanson had 10 kills, 16 assists and 23 digs and the Satrom sisters combined for 14 kills and 36 digs to lead the Patriots to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-19 win over Grafton in the championship match of the North Dakota Class B Region 2 tournament.

New blood at the state tournament was guaranteed after Tuesday's semifinals, where Grafton knocked off typical Region 2 power Thompson.

The Tommies went to state every season from 2017 to 2022.

Rylee Satrom finished with eight kills, two aces and 15 digs. Raina Satrom had six kills and 21 digs.

Maysa Larson had six kills, while Kylie Kroeplin had 16 digs.

Grafton was led by Molly Bjorneby, who had eight kills, two blocks and 15 digs.
