Matt Corral declares if he'll opt out of Ole Miss' upcoming New Year's Six bowl game

STARKVILLE — Matt Corral has one last game in an Ole Miss uniform in him.

Corral led the No. 8 Rebels (10-2, 6-2 SEC) to a 31-21 win in the Egg Bowl Thursday night, securing the first 10-win regular season in Ole Miss football history. Corral is regarded as a potential first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and no one would blame him if he opted out and called his Ole Miss tenure a wrap after Thursday's Egg Bowl win.

But Corral doesn't think that way.

"Yeah, if I'm healthy, I'm going to play," Corral said.

Corral has battled injuries all year, particularly ankle injuries sustained against Tennessee and Auburn that limited his mobility late into November. Still, he's college football's only quarterback with more than 3,000 passing yards and more than 500 rushing yards and he's put up those numbers through his own injuries and injuries to his three best receivers and top running back.

After Thursday's win, the bowl game Corral wants to come back for is likely to be a good one. Ole Miss is expected to be invited to a New Year's Six bowl game, most like the Sugar Bowl or the Peach Bowl. Ole Miss has not played in a New Year's Six bowl game since the 2016 Sugar Bowl.
