UMass will return to the Mid-American Conference beginning with the 2025-26 season.

The Minutemen, who previously competed in football in the MAC, last did so in 2015. There will be a fundamental difference for this stint, however.

The program, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, will return to the conference as a full member competing in all sports where there is overlap.

After competing in the MAC from 2012-15 season, the Minutemen elected for life as an independent football program while aligning itself with the Atlantic 10 in other sports for the past eight years. They departed after passing on the opportunity for full membership.

The Minutemen compiled an 8-40 overall record and went 7-25 in the conference. They will become the 13th team in the MAC.
