Marshfield Education Foundation hits $1 million mark in donations to school district

MARSHFIELD – With nine grants set to be given to schools and educators for the 2022-23 school year, the Marshfield Education Foundation will hit the $1 million mark in its donations to projects in the Marshfield Public Schools system.

The foundation has supported 181 grants for the school district since its inception in 2010. Recent grant requests totaling $80,225 focus on social emotional learning, STEAM and diversity and equity and inclusion, the foundation said.

In a news release, School Superintendent Jeff Granatino said, "Once again, the Marshfield Education Foundation has stepped up to support innovation and creativity in the (Marshfield Public Schools District) classrooms. We cannot thank the (foundation) enough as they continue to live up to our message of: Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes."

Grants for the 2022-23 school year will pay for the following projects:

  • A K-5 diversity in literature program called "Rising Voices: Every Voice Has a Story."

  • 24 digital microscopes for the high school.

  • Books for Furnace Brook Middle School.

  • "Growing and Glowing," a project to incorporate yoga and mindfulness in the middle school.

  • A maker space at Eames Way School to increase project-based learning.

  • A districtwide initiative to increase STEAM learning for K-2 students.

  • The creation of calm corners in first grade classrooms at Winslow Elementary.

  • 20 acoustic guitars for the high school.

  • New power drills for the high school drama department.
