Marcus Smart is serving the ball like an old lady at Good Friday according to Kendrick Perkins

Marcus Smart is serving the ball like an old lady at Good Friday according to Kendrick Perkins

The Boston Celtics went through a number of high-end point guards between their last era of contention and their present one. Rajon Rondo, Isaiah Thomas, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker came through the organization without finding the level of success the team had hoped for with each.

However, the club may have had the solution it needed on the roster the whole time, veteran Marcus Smart. Perhaps miscast as a shooting guard alongside that long line of point guards, the Flower Mound native’s recent play at the 1 this season has added new fuel to the fire that is the idea of Smart manning the point.

Even former Celtic and current ESPN broadcaster Kendrick Perkins is buying into the idea of Smart as a point guard.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear Big Perk sing Smart’s praises at the 1 on a recent episode of “NBA Today.”
