Marcus Morris to Pacers as part of Buddy Hield trade. What to know about veteran forward.

NBA veteran Marcus Morris was traded to the Pacers Thursday before being dealt later in the day to San Antonio for Doug McDermott.

Morris was part of a trade for Buddy Hield that included shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz and three second-round picks. One of those second-round draft picks, along with Morris, will head to San Antonio in the McDermott trade. The Pacers also added guard Corey Joseph from the Warriors for another one of those second-round picks.

This season, Morris has averaged 6.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Those are the 34-year-old's lowest averages in over a decade. For his career, Morris has put up 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.

However, Morris is shooting slightly better this season than in the last few years. The forward has shot 43.9% from the floor in 2023-24. While playing for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2022-23, Morris shot 42.6%.

Marcus Morris' twin brother plays in the NBA

Marcus was selected 14th overall by the Houston Rockets in 2011. His twin brother, Markieff, was picked five minutes earlier at No. 13 by the Phoenix Suns. Markieff currently plays for the Dallas Mavericks.

After two seasons of playing on separate teams, Marcus was traded to Phoenix in 2013. The brothers, who played together in college for Kansas, became the first brothers ever to start alongside each other on the same team in the NBA.
