Marcus Freeman will use the spread as motivation as Notre Dame preps for Ohio State

Honestly, there isn’t much that either Notre Dame or Ohio State will need to be amped up for this Saturday’s contest. It’s both teams opening game, a Top-5 matchup with College Football Playoff implications on the line.

Speaking of lines, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman is going to use that information as motivation for his squad. During his press conference today, Freeman was told that Notre Dame is a -17.5 underdog against the Buckeyes, on the road.

His response was telling, as Freeman told media members that “we’ll use that in team meeting today.” Anything to keep the edge going right?

Although the Irish may be “dogs” against the host, the game might not turn out that way at all. Opening games are like bowl games, with so much more time to scout teams and have better game plans. Saturday can’t get here soon enough.
