Maple Leafs unveil 'Toronto Arenas' jerseys for Dec. 19 game
After bringing back the Leprechaun-green of the Toronto St. Pats for a celebration last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs will plunge further into their history with their commemorative wear for this upcoming campaign.
The organization announced Tuesday that the team will wear Toronto Arenas uniforms on Dec. 19 for the “Next Century Game” played in the afternoon versus the Carolina Hurricanes.
The NHL’s new jersey manufacturer, Adidas, produced this redesign:

Beyond the logo above, the jerseys will feature a thin striping pattern on the sleeves and a thicker white stripe at the bottom.
The “Next Century Game” will mark exactly 100 years since the franchise’s first-ever game on opening night in the NHL. The Arenas, which became the St. Pats two years later and then rebranded as the Maple Leafs in 1927, lost to the Montreal Wanderers 10-9 that night.
Toronto spent the season celebrating its centennial last year, staging events that included the reworking of the retired numbers that hang from the rafters inside Air Canada Centre and completing its Legends Row monument.
They also wore St. Pats throwback sweaters in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks in March last year. Those jerseys won’t be worn in the 2017-18 season, but will apparently be brought back for future events.
