LSU women's basketball at Mississippi State: Score, live updates

No doubt, LSU women's basketball expended a ton of energy trying to take down No. 1 South Carolina — and almost did — at home Thursday night.

Some missteps on defense late, headlined by Angel Reese fouling out with 4:02 remaining, plus some ill-advised shot selection saw the game get away from the No. 9 Tigers (18-3, 5-2 SEC) as the Gamecocks prevailed, 76-70..

Now, Kim Mulkey and company look to bounce back at Mississippi State inside Humphrey Coliseum Monday (6 p.m., ESPN2).

Mississippi State (15-6, 3-3) is led by senior forward Jessika Carter and guard JerKaila Jordan, who combine for 32 points per game.

Reese and the rest of LSU's starting five all scored in double figures against South Carolina, who had the top defense in the SEC coming into Thursday night, the Tigers will look to continue that offensive efficiency on the road Monday in StarkVegas.
