LSU stays put in NET Rankings after loss at Arkansas

The Tigers have had two opportunities in the past week to earn crucial Quadrant 1 wins on the road against Kentucky and Arkansas. In both games, they spent much of the contest in the lead. And in both games, LSU came up short.

Most recently, the Tigers lost as a result of some ill-timed fouls against the Razorbacks in Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday night. A win in that game against one of the hottest teams in college basketball could have done wonders for LSU’s seeding in the NCAA Tournament, but it couldn’t get the job done.

Luckily, that game had a minimal impact on the NET Rankings. In the most recent update, the Tigers held their spot at No. 16, where they spent most of the month of February.

Coach Will Wade’s team has an impressive five Quadrant 1 wins this season, though it also has seven losses in that category. Meanwhile, it’s 4-2 in Quadrant 2 games, 6-1 in Quadrant 3 games and a perfect 5-0 against Quadrant 4 opponents.

LSU will close out its regular season on Saturday against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Baton Rouge in what will be another chance for this team to earn a Quadrant 1 win before it travels to Tampa for the SEC Tournament.

If the season ended today, the Tigers, who are 20-10 overall with just an 8-9 record in conference play, would be the No. 8 seed in the conference tournament.
