LSU sneaks into AP Top 25 after beating Auburn

For the first time since the 2021 preseason poll, your LSU Tigers are ranked in the AP Top 25.

After a 21-17 come-from-behind victory on the road against the Auburn Tigers, LSU jumped into the rankings in the No. 25 spot, meaning next Saturday’s home contest against No. 8 Tennessee will be a matchup between ranked opponents.

The Vols were idle this weekend and stayed in place. As far as the rest of the league goes, Alabama jumped Georgia to reclaim the No. 1 spot, while Ole Miss moved up five spots to No. 9 after beating Kentucky, who in turn dropped to No. 13. Despite losing to LSU, Mississippi State still ranks two spots higher at No. 23.

The Tigers narrowly survived on Saturday night, but after four-straight wins, they’re starting to get some recognition. They also received the second most votes among unranked teams in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

With a win over the Volunteers on Saturday, LSU would almost certainly surge in both polls.
