LSU baseball to start Paul Skenes vs. Tulane in Baton Rouge NCAA Regional opener

BATON ROUGE – LSU baseball will start ace Paul Skenes on the mound against Tulane in the opening game of the Baton Rouge Regional on Friday (2 p.m., ESPNU).

Skenes, who has a 1.89 ERA and 167 strikeouts this season, was expected to start Saturday's potential matchup against No. 2 seed Oregon State or No. 3 seed Sam Houston.

Friday will be Skenes' first start against a midmajor team since March 10, when he allowed just one earned run in six innings pitched against Samford.

As for the rest of LSU's lineup against the Green Wave, Tommy White returns as the third baseman and No. 2 hole hitter after sitting out the Tigers' loss to Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament.

Dylan Crews leads off with Josh Pearson batting ninth in left field and Brayden Jobert batting seventh in right field. Hayden Travinski earns the start at catcher, hitting fourth, and Tre Morgan bats third at first base.
