LSU baseball: Hayden Travinski nursing 'small injury,' per Jay Johnson

OMAHA, Neb. – LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson announced on Friday that catcher Hayden Travinski has been nursing a "small injury" during the 2023 College World Series.

Travinski played through the injury during LSU's first two games at the NCAA Tournament but was unavailable for LSU's game on Tuesday against Tennessee, Johnson said.

"It became a little bit bigger injury earlier in the tournament. Massive, massive gratitude for him giving it a go on Monday. He did the best he could with where he was at," Johnson said on Friday. "And this time of year, that's the way it has to be.

"(He) might have been available to pinch-hit on Wednesday. We had some progress yesterday, but we've got a little ways to go to know where we're going to stand with what he will be or won't be available for going into the weekend."

LSU advanced to the 2023 College World Series final on Thursday, defeating Wake Forest 2-0 on a walk-off two-run home run in the 11th inning from Tommy White.

The Tigers will face Florida in Game 1 of the CWS final on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN).
