LPGA: Lee holds onto lead in Malaysia

South Korea's Ilhee Lee shot a 6-under round of 65 on Friday to hold onto the lead after the second round of the Sime Darby in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Lee is 13-under par on the East Course of the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, one shot ahead of American Lexi Thompson. Thompson shot an 8-under round of 63 on Friday.

"I tried to do exactly the same thing as yesterday. So my goal was 3-under par today," said Lee, who said her pre-tournament goal was 3-under for each round. "Then, yeah, I putted good and made more, so it was fun."

China's Shanshan Feng, who won in Beijing last week, is in third place at 10-under, followed by American Paula Creamer and South Korea's I.K. Kim at 9-under. Amy Yang set a tournament record with a 9-under 62 that included 10 birdies, jumping from 48th to start the day to a tie for sixth entering the weekend.

Thompson's round featured seven birdies, an eagle and one bogey.

"It was all about momentum," said Thompson. "On the back nine I made a few birdies and then I had that eagle, so I pretty much just had it going my way. I just tried to keep confident out there. Focused on one shot at a time."

Top-ranked Inbee Park is in a tie for 39th at 1-under through two rounds, while No. 2 Suzann Pettersen is six shots off the lead at 7-under. No. 3-ranked Stacy Lewis is another two shots back at 5-under.
