Lowndes Vikings in great form at Berrien

Dec. 18—VALDOSTA — Saturday's games versus the Berrien Rebels showed the Lowndes Vikings at their best on the basketball hardwood. The Lady Vikings continued their dominance this season, taking the game 66-16, further impressing with their undefeated season run so far. The boys were also on fire with a standout game against the Rebels. Winning 85-39, the Vikings looked strong for their first regional game coming up in January.

VIKINGS

The game started slow, with neither team scoring for the first two minutes. The game's first points were a rebound by the Vikings' Kaden Brown. The Rebels took the lead with a three-pointer from Caden Walker.

Lowndes secured the first period with a strong performance from Kam Jackson, putting up eight points, including a three-pointer. Brown would also continue to be a threat under the basket, netting the Vikings many rebounds throughout the game. The first period ended 18-14.

TJ Thomas started the next period with two three-pointers for the Vikings, followed by a layup from Lowndes' Keyshawn Arthur. Only a minute into the second period, the score was 28-14 for LHS. The Vikings took off with constant strong plays in the paint, putting up 20 more points from the inside before the end of the period.

Berrien attempted to stay close; However, the period ended 49-28.

The third would be much like the second period in how hot the Vikings stayed with the ball. The Rebels could not score for the first 6.5 minutes while Lowndes continued to rack up points. A big moment from Rashaud Adams came in the form of a devastating dunk to secure 60 points for the Vikings. By the end of the third period, the score was 72-34, causing a shortened final period.

With a six-minute final period, neither team could accomplish much. Brown and Thomas put up most of Lowndes' 13 fourth-period points. The game would end 85-39 in an excellent performance from the Vikings.

The Lowndes varsity boys will return on Dec. 21 to face the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers in the Lowndes Holiday Shootout. After which, on Jan. 13th, the Vikings' first regional game of the season against Valdosta High School is a game to be noticed.

Lowndes' Vikettes rolled to their ninth win of the season against no losses Saturday by devastating Berrien in a 66-16 final.

Ten Lowndes players scored with two in double figures — Kaci Demps with 17 and Kayla Jackson at 12.

The Vikettes are scheduled for a tournament Dec. 28-29.
