Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football vs. Troy video highlights, final score
The No. 25 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team put its eight-game winning streak to the test Saturday against Troy in a battle of Sun Belt Conference foes.
The Ragin' Cajuns defeated the Trojans 35-21.
UL improved to 9-1 (7-0 Sun Belt) with the victory and earned the right to host the conference championship Dec. 4 at Cajun Field.
Troy fell to 5-5 (3-3) on the season with the loss.

UL running back Montrell Johnson took a direct snap and ran straight into a scrum of players battling at the line of scrimmage. With a little push from members of the Ragin' Cajuns' offensive line, the freshman was able to cross the goal line for the touchdown.

Troy's offense had a chance to tie the game with a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but linebacker Ferrod Gardner jumped a route and came through with an interception of quarterback Gunnar Watson — the first pick the Trojans' QB has thrown this season.

Troy cut UL's lead to one score in the fourth quarter when Gunnar Watson connected with Tez Johnson for a 7-yard touchdown pass to cap off a 15-play, 82-yard drive that took nearly four minutes off the clock. The Trojans opted for the two-point conversion and pulled it off.

Coach Billy Napier's decision to keep the Ragin' Cajuns' offense on the field for a fourth down with 9 yards to go paid off in a big way. With pressure from the Troy defense forcing him out of the pocket, Levi Lewis pulled the ball down and ran up the middle of the field. After evading a couple of defenders, Lewis then bounced outside, where he had a clear path to the end zone for his fourth total touchdown of the game.

Up 14-13 at halftime, the Ragin' Cajuns got some breathing room on the opening drive of the third quarter when Levi Lewis connected with wide receiver Kyren Lacy for a 13-yard touchdown — Lewis' third of the game. The score capped off a six-play, 63-yard drive.

The Ragin' Cajuns took a 14-10 lead over Troy late in the first quarter when Levi Lewis evaded what would have been a sack in the pocket and hit wide receiver Michael Jefferson in stride for a 52-yard touchdown.

UL coach Billy Napier got creative with his playcalling on the Ragin' Cajuns' first drive of the game, and it paid off with a touchdown. Wide receiver Dontae Fleming went in motion and caught a shuffle pass from Levi Lewis as soon as the ball was snapped. Fleming stiff-armed a Troy defender on his way into the end zone to add an exclamation mark to the 15-yard score.

On the Ragin' Cajuns' first drive of the game, running back Chris Smith got the offense into Troy territory when he took a handoff from Levi Lewis, broke through the line of scrimmage and found a lot of running room for a 43-yard gain.

Troy took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter with a 10-yard run from quarterback Gunnar Watson on a read option play. Watson's score capped off an eight-play, 75-yard drive that took less than three minutes.
