Louisiana football season opener vs. Northwestern State game delayed before kickoff

Louisiana football's 2023 season opener against Northwestern State at Cajun Field is in a lightning delay.

The game between the Ragin' Cajuns and Demons is now scheduled to start at 7:46 p.m. CT.

A lightning strike was detected roughly 10 miles away from the stadium while both teams were still working through their respective pregame warmups.

Per NCAA rules, monitors have to go 30 minutes without another strike before teams can come back out and continue with warmups.
