The Detroit Lions secured their first home playoff game in three decades, and their opponent will be Matthew Stafford. How poetic. Stafford spent 12 seasons in Detroit and is currently the franchise's all-time leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, wins, completions, almost every quarterback stat you can think of. Now, he is the enemy, standing in the way of a Lions' home playoff victory.

Stafford's team, the Los Angeles Rams, were never supposed to reach the postseason. After one of the worst title defenses in recent memory, many believed the team had just given up after they traded star cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins. That was far from the truth though. Breakout seasons from running back Kyren Williams and rookie wideout Puka Nacua kept the Rams in the thick of the playoff race until they secured their spot following Week 17.

They had some impressive games down the stretch too. After starting the season 3-6, the Rams won seven of their last eight games. Their only loss came at the hands of the AFC's top seed, the Baltimore Ravens. Even that game had to go to overtime to determine a winner though. The Rams recorded wins over playoff hopefuls Seattle and New Orleans along the way and even earned a victory over the Joe Flacco-led Cleveland Browns during their playoff push. They've proven to be serious competition and are getting hot at just the right time.

The Lions, meanwhile, have been great all year. Though the team was robbed of the NFC's second seed following a missed call against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, the Lions have remained ready to compete. Even with their playoff future locked up, the Lions did not hold back against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18. Head coach Dan Campbell has the Lions fired up for their playoff run, and his boys are not a team you want to face with your season on the line.
