A look at Oklahoma City's girls high school basketball Fab 10 rankings for Feb. 27

With Oklahoma high school basketball playoffs in full swing, the final edition of this year’s Fab 10 rankings is here.

Each week, The Oklahoman’s Hallie Hart takes a look at the top girls basketball teams in the Oklahoma City area.

Here are the rankings:

1. Putnam West (23-1)

Up next: Thursday vs. Putnam North at Noble

What to know: Putnam West is one win away from the Class 6A state tournament. The Patriots throttled Westmoore, 70-39, in their regional championship to advance to area.

2. Edmond North (23-1)

Previous rank: 2

Up next: Thursday vs. Mustang at Shawnee

What to know: Edmond North is staying strong in its quest for a Class 6A state title three-peat. The Huskies dominated crosstown rival Edmond Santa Fe, 72-25, in their regional championship.

3. Bethany (22-4)

Previous rank: 3

Up next: Friday vs. Stilwell at Mvskoke Dome in Okmulgee

What to know: The Class 4A Bronchos continued to steamroll opponents on the way to area. Bethany posted its highest score of the season in a 101-34 victory against Elk City at regionals. OU signee Zya Vann broke Logan Martin’s school record of 1,687 career points from 2008.

4. Choctaw (24-0)

Previous rank: 4

Up next: Thursday vs. Owasso at Sapulpa

What to know: The Yellowjackets carried their undefeated campaign into the postseason. Choctaw slipped past Tulsa Union, 45-42, for a regional championship.

5. Edmond Memorial (21-3)

Previous rank: 5

Up next: Thursday vs. Broken Arrow at Tulsa East Central

What to know: The Bulldogs defeated Jenks, 56-41, in their regional championship. Five-star junior guard Janiyah Williams led Edmond Memorial with 18 points before announcing her commitment to Oregon.

6. El Reno (24-0)

Previous rank: 6

Up next: Thursday vs. Shawnee at Edmond North

What to know: El Reno enters the Class 5A West area tournament with an unblemished record. After a first-round bye, El Reno routed Guymon, 73-33, for a regional title.

7. Putnam North (20-5)

Previous rank: 8

Up next: Thursday vs. Putnam West at Noble

What to know: The much-improved Panthers capitalized on the chance to host regionals, securing the title with a 52-38 win over Norman North after routing Lawton in the opening game. Nykaiya Dillard and Nevaeh Sanchez led Putnam North with 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the finals.

8. Carl Albert (21-4)

Previous rank: 7

Up next: Thursday vs. Midwest City at Piedmont

What to know: The Titans are surging with an eight-game win streak. Carl Albert slipped past rival Del City, 39-37, in the regional finals to set up an area matchup with another rival: Midwest City.

9. Mustang (19-6)

Previous rank: 9

Up next: Thursday vs. Edmond North at Shawnee

What to know: The Broncos faced their biggest rival in the regional championship and defeated Yukon, 48-42. Mya Alston led Mustang with 21 points, while Cherish Haywood added 13.

10. Midwest City (22-3)

Previous rank: NR

Up next: Thursday vs. Carl Albert at Piedmont

What to know: Midwest City enters the Fab 10 after going undefeated in regular-season district play and securing a regional title. The Bombers rolled past Noble, 70-34, in their regional championship.

Just on the outside

Classen SAS: The Comets exit the Fab 10 after falling to Anadarko in their regional finals, but their runner-up status propelled them to area.

Dale: The regional champion Pirates are still the top-ranked team in Class 2A.

Douglass: No. 16 Douglass toppled third-ranked Glenpool for a regional title in Class 4A.

Jones: The Longhorns are chasing a four-peat as Class 3A state champions, and the mission remains strong with a regional title.

Washington: Top-ranked Class 3A Washington won its regional championship.
