A look at the Lakers’ court for the NBA in-season tournament

The first games of the NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament are being played on Friday, and many are intrigued to see how this new addition to the season turns out.

Some may have been skeptical when the tournament was announced this year, but many are now looking forward to it. The first group play games take place on Friday. Eight teams will advance to the knockout round next month, which will culminate with the championship game in Las Vegas that will decide the winner of the new NBA Cup.

This new in-season tournament includes the use of special alternate courts for each of the league’s 30 teams. An image of the NBA Cup trophy is at center court in each design, and the rest of each design features each team’s colors and some variation of their logos.

The Los Angeles Lakers decided to not ruffle too many features with their design, which features their familiar purple and gold and their main logo in the middle.

Winning the NBA Cup may seem somewhat insignificant for a Lakers franchise that has won 17 world championships. But perhaps within a decade, the NBA Cup will carry some actual prestige, and at that point, players, coaches and teams will compete extra hard for it each season.
