Look: Draymond Green ejected from Warriors game after putting Rudy Gobert in chokehold

Editor's note: This story has been updated from postgame comments by Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

Former Michigan State standout and Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green was ejected from the NBA's inaugural in-season tournament after inciting a fight between Golden State and the Timberwolves.

The fight began fewer than two minutes into the game after Minnesota's Jaden McDaniels and Golden State's Klay Thompson got into a scuffle as the Warriors advanced the ball upcourt. The two took turns flinging each other around by their jerseys at the Chase Center, with Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert stepping in to grab Thompson, apparently to separate them.

Green, who was behind the scuffle, ran up behind the huddle of players and placed Gobert in a chokehold for several seconds. He only let go of the Timberwolves center after Warriors coach Steve Kerr ran onto the court and told him to let go. Minnesota's Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns also attempted to pry Green off Gobert.

Here's another vantage of the scuffle, which saw Green, Thompson and McDaniels all ejected:

Green also infamously punched former Warriors teammate and Michigan player Jordan Poole during a team practice in October 2022. It remains to be seen what punishments if any Green faces from the NBA or Warriors for his latest altercation.

Update: Following the game, Kerr defended Green's actions by saying he saw on replay (and was informed by players on the bench) that Gobert had his hands around Thompson's neck.
